"Perfect"Hey dad look at meThink back and talk to meDid I grow up according to plan? And do you think I'm wasting my time doing things I wanna do?But it hurts when you disapprove all alongAnd now I try hard to make itI just want to make you proudI'm never gonna be good enough for youI can't pretend thatI'm alrightAnd you can't change me'Cuz we lost it all Nothing lasts foreverI'm sorry I can't be perfectNow it's just too late and We can't go backI'm sorry I can't be perfectI try not to thinkAbout the pain I feel insideDid you know you used to be my hero? All the days you spent with meNow seem so far awayAnd it feels like you don't care anymoreAnd now I try hard to make it I just want to make you proud I'm never gonna be good enough for youI can't stand another fightAnd nothing's alrightNothing's gonna change the things that you saidNothing's gonna make this right againPlease don't turn your backI can't believe it's hardJust to talk to youBut you don't understandJust like this song by Simple Plan so much. Yes, I don't outrightly listen to EL radio stations, so people will just have to tell me about them. And as much as this song borders on emo-ism, as a singer, I really love the way the type of voice singing, esp. during the verse, portrays a desire to want to be that best child, that winner in life. Yet, behind this trying, behind the innocent intention lies the scars of rebellion, failings and not-making-it ultimately.
Yes, we all are kids like that to our Daddy God. Try as we may, there are still so many times we come back tearful to the altar and say it- "I'm sorry, I can't be perfect". And the beautiful part about this is that the response never fails to be one of warmth and embrace.
Sometimes as Christians we want to appear strong and happy ALL THE TIME. But I just thought this song is so real, yes we may fail, but the actions following just gotta be to stand up and dust the dirt off our knees and acknowledge the journey ahead with an eternal Savior.
Another song I really like is a Chinese song by Landy Wen Lan, called Sha Gua (Fool). It's kind of a sad love song, but the part which I wanna share with everyone will be in it's chorus...
傻瓜我们都一样被爱情伤了又伤相信这个他不一样却又再一次受伤傻瓜我们都一样受了伤却不投降相信付出会有代价代价只是一句傻瓜And yes, that is the chorus for you. Just for a simple translation, this chorus says that we are all fools who have been hurt time and again by the things we do to love and be loved. Yet, we do not stop trying, because we believe that the next time round, it will surely be different. We will be hurt and injured along the way but we refuse to surrender, because we know the rewards will come, in being acknowledged as being a fool for love. Well, being a fool for love does sound rather...duh. Yet, what I really love about this chorus in relation to our love for the people around us is that there are alot of times that we try love people who reject us, people who do not appreciate the effort, yet there is an inner call, a greater love for this cause within you that draws you back to love and perhaps be hurt time and again. Despite the battle-weariness, we trudge along and keep on keeping on, keep on sowing, because we have come to the point where the call and love within us surpasses our human nature to protect ourselves from being hurt and not trying again. And the rewards, though simple, lies in being called a fool, in context, a fool for Christ. That is something that encourages me so much as I watch the Youtube video on it. It seems so foolish to keep doing something which will hurt you eventually, but just keep sowing, leaning upon the call of God's love for people in your heart. And that is what will take one through the journey of being a fool for Christ.

Went for a makeover today with Kanebo, Lunasol. This is a contest called the Miss Lunasol Contest, for which the top 3 winners stand to win trips to Japan, HK and $1K worth of Lunasol products. Mummy was very kind to be my honorary sponsor for this makeover, but the conditions were that if i EVER won, she would take the prize. And of course, I didn't have any problem with that. ;)
The hairstylist was saying that I looked like an Indonesian Chinese doll. Umm...these are the pics!

Today I am going to do something very
un-Zoe. People have commented that my blog is too cheem, and they would love to see some pics, so YES! I don't know what got into me and my colleagues from 3 different companies (past and present), we took photos non-stop...and were very happy doing so. Must have been too stressed, but it was one happy day. Can't wait to go HK with you guys next Summer! Cheers to the 4 of us, and to our friendship! Before I carry on, just want to also put up a photo I like very much, taken at
Mount Faber.
And so the day started off exciting, when I HAD TO mention to Rachel that there was a Dior and Kenzo SALE at Great World City. She came all excited and grabbed and grabbed and grabbed somemore. Even the guys who normally were nice enough to just carry our barang could not resist the thrill and bought some for girlfriend and sister. Check out the DAMAGE DONE. Say 'wow'.

Finally I got my Dior Addict 2! Been looking forward to get it since early this year but have not gotten down to it coz it was not in my priorities. Now that it was at 60% discount, what better reason + it is now part of my Christmas present this year from Daddy and Mummy! So effectively, it's FOC!

This is the perfume that Rachel got. Limited edition version of Dior's J'adore. It is limited edition coz there will not be any more of these with golden shimmer inside that you can find in stores anymore! Means when you spray it on, you get the subtle bronzer effect! Beautiful like an Egyptian queen...(why did I think of that...)
Wiardi, Ken, Zoe and Rachel decided to take a rest (again) after some damage done at Dior and Kenzo Sale @ Great World City. Actually, all of us bought gifts for others except for one dear girl who decided that Sales are awesome investments. So you promised NOT to buy anymore makeup for the next one year yes? ;)

Headed with the guys to buy their Cologne and we discovered that Armani Code for men and women are both SUPER NICE (yes, that's my fave phrase Wiardi, I know)! Armani Code Man is good if you want to carry an air of masculinity and respect, very top executive. Code Woman is very sensual, great for a romantic evening out.
Check out the pic below: taken at the entrance of Vivo Tangs. Nice yea?
Rachel told me that if I wear this to a "Futuristic Zen" themed-party with sunglasses and with the classic cool look, I'll win hands down. Umm...@ Vivo River Island. Check out the 'neckline'!
And my dear Val, I've caught your take pictures in dressing room syndrome! Not going to own this dress anytime soon till probably some months later, so captured them in photos 1st. Love the back of this dress...

Recently was just fishing around my stash of books and "Happiness is..." by A R Bernard caught my eye, and boy, was it good or good? It certainly set me thinking, so here I am to share with you some nuggets of truth, especially following the screening of "The Pursuit of Happyness" in the CGM!
(Words in bold are as quoted, words in italics are just my erm...urge to preach again with my intepretation and how God spoke to me personally. Haha! Yes, according to some, my blog is too wordy and preachy...but, it's my blog so too bad! ;))~God won't force you to adopt a positive attitude. It's up to you to THINK positively about your blessings and opportunities...or not. Happiness is a positive INTERPETATION of the world and its events...requires you to see the good in everything, no matter what happens.~>> What does being happy constitute to you? Does it mean a good family, being financially cool, good and prestigious educational background, accolades to your name, working in a 'branded' company, earning big bucks, being a good-looker, etc...? Of course these are wonderful, but whoever said that without these, we are doomed for boo days? Happiness is an intepretation, a PERSPECTIVE that we need to readjust occasionally, so that we do not lose track along the way. <<~There is always something left to love.~>> It is the gentleness of the people around me, my leaders and friends, who have made me great. If they had given up on loving the bleh side of Zoe, then I would probably have erm...let's not go into details. There is always something we can appreciate about individuals who may seem to challenge you. ;) <<~Don't feel entitled to anything you didn't sweat or struggle for.~>> We are all blessed with talents and skills, but what takes certain people beyond to breakthru lies in the power of the will, whether or not we are willing to put our hands to the plough LONG TERM. The victory will always be sweeter when mixed with the result of your sweat and tears. Dare to dream and achieve. <<~He did it with all his heart. So he prospered.~>> Simple biblical concept from 2 Chr 31. But yet it struck me, that the key to prospering in life, in being able to find the winner in yourself, in really to put 100% into what you do, giving 100% chance for the miracle to happen. <<~If you can forgive the person you were, accept the person you are, and believe in the person you will become, you are headed for joy. So celebrate your life.~>> I thought this was so beautiful. It described the essence of what pure joy and happiness is, but so oft we miss out on this because we want to move ahead and believe in ourselves without being able to really accept who we really are and our past. And life itself is worth a celebration in itself already, don't even have to wait for BIRTHDAYS. Now, doesn't that give us a reason to be a blesser and tell someone else how awesome they are to us? <<~Human emotions are highly variable, decidedly unpredictable and often unreliable. Who's pulling your emotional strings today? You may encounter a tough situation or difficult person. As a result, you may be gripped by a strong negative emotion. Distrust it. Reign in it. Test it. And turn it over to God.~>> That was a long one, stringed together from various parts of that chapter. Alot of things are done on impulse and in a haste, which have led or will lead to wrong decisions made, people hurt unintentionally, leaving things in a complete mess. If only we would take a moment to think before acting and include the God-factor in the decision, will things turn out different? Try it today. <<~Surrender to the Lord is not a tremendous sacrifice, not an agonizing performance. It is the most sensible thing you can do.~>> This made me laugh at...well, myself. I guess we could all afford to do that, and recognise how stupid we are to struggle to hard to lay it all on the altar, with tears in our eyes, yet it is the most easy way out, the most duh thing to do. Hmm... <<~Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody expects of you. Never excuse yourself. Never pity yourself. Be a hard master to yourself and be lenient to everybody else.~>> We will never grow up to be fully functioning adults until we are willing to accept responsibility for our thoughts, motives, words and actions. We need to rid our life of excuses and stop playing the 'blame game' and adopting a 'loser's limp', i.e. blaming our poor performance on imagined injuries. C'mon, it's time to grow up and be a true-blue adult! <<And that is all for Part 1 of Nuggets of Truth with Zoe. Oh no, now I really feel like some motivational speaker. Well anyhow, I assert that this is my blog, so I can say what I wanna say! ;)

@1:02 AM
Was speaking to a friend online and that gave birth to the inspiration for this post. Thanks, friend! ;)
Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.Gen 18:14 "
Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” I believe in a God who can supply all my needs. The word of God has said that it is through prayer and fasting that one inherits the kingdom's promises, and I put my faith in that. God has never shortchanged me, neither has he failed me. Sometimes the vision may tarry, the revival may come lateR than anyone else, the finances may start pouring in lateR than your peers, the career path may seem to be fraught with bumps; BUT at the end it will come.
Never did I imagine that I could last the 3 days aka 62 hours of fasting, but I always knew that action speaks louder than words. I wanted my actions to touch the heart of God, and I wanted a heart more sensitive to what God wanted for my life in this season. I'm glad that I've done it! =)
God spoke to Abram that he will have a son. It almost seemed IMpossible, but God intervened at the opportune moment. He loves to show up and shout "SURPRISE!". That is MY GOD.
James 5:7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.Yes, the farmer sows. And waits. Patiently for the time of the latter rain, where fruit will be in abundance. Good things takes time to come forth. The good of the land is reserved for the patient and perservering at heart.
Zech 10:1 Ask the LORD for rain in the time of the latter rain. The LORD will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone. Joel 2:23-24 Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you—The former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.Keep doing what is right. There will always be an opposition party laid in your path, but that only serves to assure you that what you are doing is of value, and the devil needs to mobilise his forces against it. Keep asking, keep praying, keep fasting.
God has been good so many times before, He will continue to be good, and even better. In the words of my friend, "Before a breakthrough will come a purifying season, so just stay the course and keep praying, sure will end well by end of this year. Somemore you fasted 3 days lor! Never shake heaven, also got shake hell." Haha, copied exactly with Singlish and all.
The voice of truth always tells a different story. Do not focus on the present, but be on the forefront of your expectations. We serve a God who is all ready to bless extravagantly, so be not afraid to ask for the latter rain. It is for an appointed season, but it will surely come.
God I
ASK for revival in my life, in my ministry, in my career, in my finances, in my mindset...it's time to speak to the mountains today.
