Woohoo! I loove presents, especially so sweet surprises for no apparent reason! They reeaaallly light up my day, enough for me to do a collage out of it. =)

Thanks Phoebe for the jelly beanies! I absolutely love picking out different flavors and comparing them with the list provided, even though it seems they taste roughly the same. Hee...I even did a heart shape with them! Hahaha...Okay. =p Only thing I didn't like was the bus uncle who stopped the bus and walked right up to me saying 'no eating on the bus'. But it was like erm...only jellybeans?!
O yes, thanks too to Terence for the Victoria's Secrets....Hydrating Lotion. It was nice to know you thought of us when you were overseas to get us nice stuff! And I really love the smell of it...too bad it woke my Dad up in the middle of the night coz the smell was too strong. He went round the house to search for the source of that smell. Hmm...pontianak perhaps? ;)
Anyway, have been thinking about this the past couple of days...don't you think we humankind LOVE to make things soooo complicated, when actually, the key to success and joy in life really lies in simplicity? Why is it that we can have so much, yet it seems like there will never be enough? I think it's really important to set time aside everyday and come to the place of thanksgiving before God. Yes, life with God can get challenging sometimes, but life without God can only be described by the word 'unthinkable'. I was having my time with Daddy last night when this song I used to sing in Fairfield days came to mind...
Just let me say how much I love You
Let me speak of Your mercy and grace
Just let me live in the shadow of Your beauty
Let me see You face to face
And the earth will shake
As Your Word goes forth
And the heavens can tremble and fall
But let me say how much I love You
My Savior, my Lord and Friend
Just let me hear Your finest whispers
As You gently call my name
Just let me see Your power and Your glory
Let me feel Your spirit's flame
Let me find You in the desert
Till this sand is holy ground
And I am found completely surrendered
To You, my Lord and Friend
So let me say how much I love You
With all my heart I long for You
For I am caught in this passion of knowing
This endless love I've found in You
And the depth of grace, the forgiveness found
To be called a child of God
Just let me say how much I love You
Oh my Savior, my Lord and Friend
It's my honor and privilege to love You. There's nothing, no one, that can take Your place in my heart. Thanks for the beauty of it all, when You chose to salvage the wreckage and turn mourning into dancing, ashes to joy.
P/S: Anyway I had my me-time today! It has been some time since I had one, that was when I walked home for 50mins from Dempsey in Feb. Today, I got off the bus earlier on my way home from Ldr's Mtg and walked home, enjoying the serenity of the night and myself as God's creation. Me-time is therapeutic, I tell you. Gotta go try me-time jogging instead of walking in future!

What do people do when they get a lil (subjective) bored at work? This is what the family at Centrepoint does...

Okay lah, like its once in a blue (or maybe yell..oops I mean hot pink) moon that we
ever do this right, gals? Hee.
That's Viv, Lane and me. Sometimes we eat healthy (but this excludes Lane- all the choc you eat lah!), but sometimes, we indulge in what every woman desires...how about some Dark Choc Gelato, straight from the tub? *Hands over tissue for the drooling* Or perhaps, pose and pose and pose and...with Lane's new cap (where did you get that from huh...umm).
@2:57 AM
I simply love to check out my fave comic, Baby Blues, every once in a while. 1st reason being that the stories potrayed are so real, and the ability of it to put a smile on my face (or heart)! 2nd reason of course, is that the dajie owns the same name as me lah! ;)
Picked out a few here...a lil small but click on them to check it out! You won't regret!

How many have
Monday mornings similar to these? Like meeesssssssssssssy.
The difference between how men and women dress: glimpses of it already evident in childhood.

And that's my dear Zoe MacPherson...emo-ing!
And lastly...this reminds me of our ultra uber cool BLING PARTY last year!

Me and my very special friends, both man- and doggie-kind! Love them all!

*P/S: Phoebe, this is the best edit that I can do to our pic with Toffee. He was moving in every pic!*

Wow it sure feels weird to have a chinese song on my blog, even though I sing them every Friday. But I just had to have this song up...it's one of those songs that makes me see the world with lotsa lotsa love around, and everyone appears to be carrying one of those yellow smiley balloons! It sure puts a spring in my step whenever I listen to this song. And for the unitiated its called
三个心愿, by FIR! Woohoo!! =)))
Anyway, just wondering how many of you may have heard this song called
When I'm Gone by Simple Plan. Someone sang it today and I thought wow, the lyrics is so applicable to our lives. Check it out...
I look around meBut all I seem to seeIt's people going nowhereExpecting sympathyIt?s like we're going through the emotionsOf the scripted destinyTell me where's our inspirationIf life won't waitI guess it's up to meWhoahh No we're not gonna waste another moment in this townWhoahh We won't come back, the world its coming outWhoahh Leave the past in the past gonna find the futureAnd misery loves companyWell so long
You'll miss me when I'm goneYou're gonna miss me when I'm goneProcrastination running circles in my headWhile you sit there contemplating you'll wind up left for dead (left for dead)Life it's what happensWhile you're busy making your excusesAnother day, another casualtyBut that won't happen to meLet's goWon't look backWhen I say goodbyeWe're gonna leave this world behind meGonna take what's mine tonight cause every wasted dayBecomes a wasted chanceYou're gonna wake up feeling sorrycause life won't waitI guess it's up to youA little long, but I thought it was so true. Life won't wait. Many times when we go thru the negatives of life, we sit around and wait for someone to come alongside and sayang us, and till we feel the wound has healed and enough TLC has been rendered, then will we move on with life. Or how about the procrastinator in life who loves to be a blamer and is never at fault ever? When something goes wrong, you'll never hear words of sorry from that person, or worse, that sorry is birthed out of obligation.
You know, a blamer is bound to be a victim coz he will never learn to be humble, acknowledge his mistakes and move on. If you want to be a victor, be a learner instead! Let's make less casualties and hospital visits out of our lives!

~Random Rambling 1~
We all want things to be done...
our way. But of course right? Since
our way is most seemingly the best way. Yet, there are those who give in and compromise, and there are also those who insist on their way no matter what.
In my opinion, the way to allow the best scenario to take place is really to be open to perspectives, in both attitude and actions following. Easier said than done though. Many of us will struggle with this because we have
our pride, and to back off and admit someone else's way is better than ours requires a great deal of humbleness, but more so, maturity. That's why give-and-take is very important. And that defines a great friendship too: a pair who neng2 qu1 neng1 shen1, where the crown is not permanently etched on someone's head.
~Random Rambling 2~
People of the upcoming generation differ from the previous generations more and more in one area: their wanting to commit. In the past, people would give everything to stay committed, and love the things they choose to the point of being willing to give everything up for it. However, more and more, the next generation want the option of choice. They dream of the day of freedom, of having no red tape, of having no boundaries. They can touch and go, with no fingerprints left behind. After all, we belong to ourselves, why should we allow others to make decisions for us?
Thinking about that, I guess I'm someone who believes alot in commitment. Once I form a habit, come to like someone/thing, I will give my all for it. To everything else, I say no, and by my firmness (percieved as stubborness many times), people around me have come to realise (and sometimes conclude) that I am a 'hard woman'. Haha, I guess some people will probably know what I'm talking about more than others, coz somehow, this attitude plays up more in certain contexts.
I love red tape, I should declare. Imagine life without red tape, without boundaries, without my leaders telling me what to do when I'm a kiddo raring to do the dumbest things that I am almost certain is correct...I'll probably to heavily covered in bandages right now. Mummified. Red tape helps me make the right decisions, even when I firmly see it as wrong at that moment. I will struggle with that and feel like the most unjustified soul, but I know that you mean the best for me. And for being willing to bear the silent unjustification hurled at you all in the form of vibes, I salute and love you ALL.
~Random Rambling 3~
A part of me is starting to dread my Fridays more and more, the major reason being the existence of vocal classes. Don't get me wrong, I still and will always LOVE singing. It's my life, the one that keeps me in touch with myself. Yet, the more I train, the more I feel that I am getting back to square one. Suddenly, it seems that I can no longer handle even the basic foundational techniques (is this the term man) such as...to breathe!
Sometimes, I get really frustrated with myself because I feel that I am wasting Laoshi and my other classmate's time, especially now that we are singing duets. Week in and out, we got to keep singing the same song, because I just can't get it right. And Laoshi said, to practise! Yes, problem is, I had! And if I practised and still can't get it, does that mean I have reached my glass ceiling and can go no more? My confidence drops to ground zero everytime I pick up the mic to sing now, and that pulls me way off from singing from my heart and giving my best.
I'm contemplating giving up for some time now, but the dream and vision stops me from doing so...this means so much to me that tears of frustration come to me when singing...I need the breakthrough!!
As you can see, yes, these are all very random...haha. Okay, ramblings show my human-ness what.

@2:04 AM
Have been browsing thru my hairstyles in the past few years, and realised that I didn't change my hairstyle that often! Everytime I do my hair, it will be 8 months later at least that I touch it again, no matter how minute the change. Hmm...but whenever I change my hairstyle, it will never be minute. Hahaha...
Anyway, this is my golden ah-lian attention-seeking perm: done in Sept 2006.

Following this, I found comfort in my rebonded hair, which I really loved. Before permed hair, I sported rebonded hair too lah, just that all along it was long, but now its shooortt! Done in
July 2007.

So, since I am talking about this, of course in 2008, I needed a change right? Haha...before showing you my dear reader my new look, ushers please prepare me some milk and honey (or is it China Wine...). Here goes, the hairstyle that kept me in the salon for
7hrs 45mins...
I had to clock the whole process to entertain myself okay. It was an achievement and personal breakthru for me sitting through so long. Previous record was around 6hrs at max.
So...there's Cleopatra/China Doll for you! Haha, not said by me lah, but by my hairstylist. It's a jet black base with blue highlights. This is a special coloring by Loreal called Elumen, which unlike normal hair color that damages the hair, this conversely repairs the hair cuticles and surface, thus making it softer and silkier ala rebonding effect after the color job. Another cool thing is that unlike normal fading of bright colors like red and purple to gold, Elumen will end up fading to pastel shades. In other words, I will eventually get a black base with ash pastel blue highlights when it fades after 4-6 months! Haha, and for that, you should be able to gather it is $$$. DON'T ask how much.
Since it costed me so much, better take more pics. Here's another collage I just did...haha. *Okay, I was challenged to tie my hair into 2 ponytails by my hairdresser. He was saying, you must dare lah!*
Anyway, it was interesting coz all my colleagues could not recognise me today. Very hilarious. Smiled at a few of them I saw on the bus to work and they walked past me blindly. In the office, I met with alot of stunned stares followed by lotsa 'OMG's. Hahaha...I love my new hairstyle! =)) *Laney and Victoria! Its your turn!*
Oh yes, before ending, just wanna show you guys this tee that my sis gave me eons ago, thought it was very cool! Check out all the country names! Time to plan for travel! Hands up those interested.
@12:16 AM
My dear pal did this for me and posted it on her blog!! I feel like the most loved friend around now. =) Yes I know my pics look ugly, but I'm still very touched!
Anyway, talking about BFFs, I'm surprised some people whom I won't expect to know about this term have been using it too. Hee, the propagation of thy lingo. Someone told me BFFs may have other connotations too...how about Building Fund Finish, or BoyFriend Finally? Like oh my!! Hahahaahaaa...

While shopping for food one day, I remembered Phoebe and how we used to give gifts to each other in uni days. She is someone who will feel very loved and blessed when people shower her with foodie gifts. So, I decided to be her sweet friend and get this for her! Do you remember Milky Peko Girl? ;) Vintage huh?

This is my lovenote to her! Made it in the shape of a paw, coz she lovess doggies. Yes I know this paw has 6 toes, can't be helped. Name too long. And yay, I know how to blur out the words already!

Anyway, just wanted to say
I MISS TOUCH RUGBY!! Everytime I'm at home in the evenings (like once a week only), I will look out of my window and see ACS Intl students training on their field. I hope none of them see this post though. When oh when can someone play touch with me again?!

Check out these gals...they don't do 3-punch-up the same way I used to in SA. Now they do it the rugby way, which I find a lil slipshod. Hee...and they keep dropping the ball! That makes me very pek chek watching them. But at least they got the alignment correct lah (those who play will know whatcha talking about).

So when oh when will I be able to play touch again?
Those were the days...of mud, rain, and smelly soccer boots.

@2:12 PM
Yesterday during Leader's Meeting I learnt a great deal. But what's the use when it remains head information and is not translated into action right? That explains why we can be blessed with the best sermons but don't see change in our lives. So I better blog it down and make sure I get down to making it business.
We have all been talking about soaring in excellence and leadership in our marketplaces. But how many of us CHOOSE to actively carry ourselves as leaders and people with the favor of God in our marketplaces? And do you know that God is more eager to put us at such positions than we ourselves may even want to be at?
Mt 9:37-38 are verses we always look at. We say the harvest is plentiful, but laborers are few, and what do we need to do then? Simply...PRAY! Simply ASK that they will be sent out and it will happen! God seems even more eager than us to empower us to be marketplace leaders (
note Mt10:2: 'apostles')!
Why was God able to use the 12 disciples? Reason was that they were ready to see themselves as apostles, as leaders. They did not feel that hey, just coz I have Jesus as my leader means I can lay back and relax and let him do all the work.
They were READY, they knew the larger-than-life vision that was on their lives.
One thing that was etched in my head yesterday was,
'If you say you cannot, you literally take the initiative out of God's hands'. The moment you decide not to lead and influence in your marketplace, there is no way the kingdom of God can be propagated.
And this is why you realise that a church can be so powerful on weekends, but the power dissipates on weekdays! Not because we don't have that same measure of power, but because we CHOOSE to blend in, we CHOOSE not to stand UP.
Who is the real you? Is the real you who you are now, or who you are growing to become: the fulfilment of the vision for your life? If the real you lies in who you are growing to become, then what's the use of now? Is there still reason to live for?
That is why God provides the VISION. What will keep us going on track from now till then, despite the challenges, lies in the hope that the vision will come to pass...one day.
However, the ability to remain on track and focussed, despite how much I love to talk about it, defeats even the strongest person at times.
Yet, who is the real winner in life? It is not he who is just concentrated on winning, it is he who is not thrown off course by losses, but cashes in on the accumulation of experiences: what can I learn from my victory/failure?
As a leader, we gain followers not by reprimanding them, but bysimply helping provide a vision larger than themselves and helping them see that when the going gets tough. As a leader in your marketplace, ask yourself this: why SHOULD your followers follow you?
Since I am on the note of leadership, let me end off by just quoting outgoing Education Minister Mr Tharman, who says "You've got to keep a certain momentum so people know you are serious and the direction ain't changing". One of the 3-prong strategy that he had through his ministry was to STRETCH POTENTIAL. Talents present themselves when opportunities are provided, and we got to lose our inhibitions, our weaknesses, and avail ourselves to these opportunities! Who knows what can happen when you do so? ;)
Another thing that God spoke to me about leadership is this
"Leaders lead, not react". If we are constantly reacting to things that crop up, we are essentially unprepared. This means that we can never give 100% chance for the best to happen. No wonder miracles are rarely seen, and exponential growth is rarely heard of! No wonder stagnation kicks in! Hmm...it's time to be on the ball...hahaha!
